C. Samuel Rees
Of recent time in west Texas, C. Samuel writes, "Low-lying Chihuahuan desert, broken by the dry washes of McKittrick Canyon teeming with sagebrush lizards and lechuguilla blooms amidst creosote, honey mesquite, & yucca. Four more miles up switchbacks to where madrone, ponderosa, & piñon cloak long-empty Mescalero Apache camps, crashed planes, & ravens croaking on false peaks. Camp beneath a quick-descending sun, the sound of light rain on our tents, mule deer browsing in the dark." You can find more of his work in Bat City Review.
