The loud quiet

Imagine all the R&B, all
uncertain jazz

imagine their absence
and then the forest floor

the crawl the cicadas waving
at each-other

from twenty cicada feet
then striking their feet

like cavemen with stones
this eerie music

that seldom leaves the nigh
or the forest floor—
